FAQs
GENERAL
Q: Do you ship outside the US?
We’d love to ship outside the US, but unfortunately it is disproportionately expensive to ship small orders from the US to countries outside the US. If however you have a large order, please email us at hello@thebaalproject.com with your desired shipping address, and we can check what the shipping cost would be.
Q: How do I track my order?
You will receive an email as soon as your shipping label is created with the tracking information. Clicking on the tracking information in that email will allow you to track your package.
Q: My package didn’t arrive! What do I do?
If your package hasn’t arrived within 10 business days of the shipment date please contact us at hello@thebaalproject.com.
Q: How long does it take FOR packages to arrive?
Generally between 1 to 8 business days (depending on your location in the US).
Q: My bottle arrived broken! What do I do?
On no! We’re so sorry that happened. In order to receive a replacement OR refund, the recipient MUST provide us with photographs for insurance purposes. We cannot replace broken bottles or provide refunds without photographic evidence. Please email us photos of the broken bottles at hello@thebaalproject.com.
Q: I’m interested in carrying baal at my store/restaurant, what do i do?
Amazing! Please email hello@thebaalproject.com and include ‘WHOLESALE’ in the subject line.

OLIVE OIL QUESTIONS
Q: WhY IS BAAL OLIVE OIL IS A CLEAR BOTTLE? I thought all olive oil was suposed to come in dark bottles?
Olive Oil is generally put in dark colored bottles because with exposure to excessive light, the quality of the Olive Oil will diminish. With the said, we really love the look of a clear bottle as it allows you to see and appreciate the beautiful, rich color of our Olive Oil. Also, from the time our Olive Oil is created until the time it has reached you, we take great care to ensure it has barely ever seen daylight. When you receive the Olive Oil, as with any Olive Oil, you should store it in a cool, dark place (ex. in a cupboard that doesn’t get much heat).
Q: WhY ARE YOU SELLING OLIVE OIL FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR?
Good question! Olive Oil is harvested only once per year, in the Fall season (generally October or November). Therefore, by the time it gets to you, you almost certainly will be consuming olive oil that was harvested in the previous calendar year. Additionally, after harvesting our Olive Oil, because it is unfiltered, we allow it to sit for several months in large, tightly sealed stainless steel containers in order for the sediments in the olive oil to naturally sink to the bottom, so that when we bottle our olive oil several months later (around March or April of the next year), these sediments are mostly removed. Our olive oil is then loaded on containers and shipped halfway across the world (using the northern-most possible shipping route to keep the olive oil cold the entire time) before it gets to us, and we then ship it to you in the U.S. :)
Q: What is the difference between Extra Virgin olive oil and regular olive oil?
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (“EVOO”) is made from cold-pressed olives, whereas regular olive oil is a blend, including both cold-pressed and processed oils. EVOO is made by grinding olives into a paste, then pressing them to extract the oil. There's no heat involved. Because of the way extra-virgin olive oil is made, it retains more true olive taste, and has a lower level of oleic acid (no more than 1% oleic acid to be considered EVOO) than other olive oil varieties. It also contains more of the natural vitamins and minerals found in olives. Extra-virgin olive oil is considered an unrefined oil since it’s not treated with chemicals or altered by temperature.
Q: What does Single Source Origin mean?
Our olive oil comes only from our family’s olive groves in North Lebanon, we don’t source from any other olive farmers. This ensures purity and the highest quality of olive oil.
Q: What does unfiltered mean?
To make olive oil, olives are washed and crushed into a paste that is stirred (or, malaxed) before being pressed, or spun in a centrifuge. What’s left after removing the water is unfiltered olive oil and is cloudy in appearance. Some people find unfiltered olive oil to be more flavorful. Also, filtering the oil removes the suspended solids, resulting in a clearer appearance. But it might also remove some of the healthy phenolic compounds and actually decrease the shelf life of the oil, depending on the type of filter used.
OLIVE OIL CARE
Q: How should I store my oil?
Olive oil should be stored away from heat and direct sunlight.
Q: Can I cook with my oil?
Absolutely! Our oil is meant to perform as both a finishing and cooking oil.
Q: My oil seems cloudy - why is this happening?
Our oil is unfiltered, and therefore is naturally cloudy. Additional, because of movement during shipment olive oil can be cloudier upon delivery. No need to worry – the cloudiness will reduce with time and will not degrade the quality of the oil!
Q: Why is there sediment at the bottom of my bottle?
Our oil is unfiltered. As a result, with time, the sediments contained in the unfiltered oil will sink to the bottom of the bottle. Don’t worry – this is natural and does not effect the quality of the olive oil at all! You can simply shake the bottle to return the sediment to the oil, or if you prefer, leave it as it at the bottom of the bottle.
Q: When will my oil expire?
The oxidation process of oil begins as soon as the seal is removed from the bottle - that being said, we recommend consuming your oil within 6 months of opening for premium taste.
However, unopened and properly stored in a cool, dark place, our olive oil is still excellent 20-24 months after harvest. After that, it is still ideal for cooking, but with time it will have lost some of it’s biting edge that we like to have when consuming it raw.
SOAP CARE
Q: How should I store my soap when using it?
Store your soap on a well drained soap dish at all times. We advise using a soap dish with ridges to prevent water from accumulating under the soap.
Q: How should I store my soap for future use?
Store unused soap in a dark, dry, room temp place like a lingerie drawer or linen closet. Do not use a sealed container or zip lock bag. Excessive heat, light, and moisture should be avoided.
